Al Ain Women's College of Higher Technology carried out a highly successful blood donation campaign at their premise recently. It is maintained that over the years this campaign has assumed the status of an annual ritual in the college which continues to attract an increased number of participation by the young students eager to pitch in with their bit for the community.
This year's drive was themed 'Giving blood is giving life', and thanks to the co-operation and interaction of all those involved, it resulted in building up the stocks of blood at the local hospitals considerably.
Instrumental in putting forward and executing the plan for the donor clinic were the students and staff of the Health Science Faculty, the Medical Administration programme and the Information Administration students. They also remained vigilantly active in seeing the operation through.
According to the organisers, the success of this year's campaign rested largely on the students who came forward as donors. David Gross, the director of the college, presented them with certificates in appreciation of their humanitarian gestures.
The institute succeeded in collecting 74 units of blood last year which was easily surpassed this year with 103 units been donated. And so with this enviable record, an even more demanding target has been set for the students to beat next year.
