15 UAE students graduate management programme

15 national students have completed a management training programme to become among the first students in the UAE to receive the UK's Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) certificate.

The Mashreqbank-sponsored programme, Mashreq Al Tamooh, was conducted at the National Training Resources (NHR) training centre with the objective of developing the participants' business administration and business English skills to contribute to the country's economic progress.

"The NHR training programmes are clearly focused to build essential business skills and tools for young nationals who are serious about getting into the mainstream of the economic development of the country.

"We believe the success of this programme demonstrates what can be achieved in the area of emiratisation by the government and private sector working together for the long-term benefit of the nation," said Ahmed Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, at the press conference held at the NHR Training Centre.

Al Mansouri added that the Chamber is committed to emiratisation programmes and would like nationals to take on more responsibilities in work.

Mohammed Mubarak, chairman of NHR, said: "Mashreq Al Tamooh is in its third year of operation and this year is the first time it has been conducted exclusively in Abu Dhabi.

"We are very encouraged by the results of the programme where over 40 UAE nationals have successfully graduated to date, taking good positions within the business sectors in the country."

Ahmed Bushager, Assistant Vice-President of Corporate Banking at Mashreqbank, noted that the BTEC programme is very pragmatic and offers high school graduates the chance of entering the private sector.
