Actress Divya Bharti dies after fall from flat
1993 - Teenage Indian actress Divya Bharti, the chubby-cheeked heroine of several blockbuster Hindi films, died after falling from her fifth-floor Tulsi apartment at Andheri, Mumbai, while drunk. Bharti, 19, fell after climbing on to a window ledge of her apartment in “a state of intoxication”, shortly after midnight. She walked through a plate glass window and plummeted to the ground “in an inebriated condition”. Bharti had married film producer Sajid Nadiadwala two months ago. She was apparently in a state of intoxication. Police have registered a case of accidental death though initially they suspected suicide. The sudden passing away of the upcoming actress has left a host of film producers in a quandary as she had signed up almost 20 films.
