SpaceX, founded by tech billionaire Elon Musk, has just successfully launched its first spy satellite into orbit.
Falcon 9 is a two-stage rocket designed and manufactured by SpaceX for the "reliable and safe transport of satellites and the Dragon spacecraft into orbit."
The satellite for the National Reconnaisance Office, the United States’ “eyes and ears in space,” went to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, United States.
Monday’s launch was the second attempt after the original liftoff was cancelled on Sunday following a sensor problem.
