Lisec sets up base in Dubai Silicon Oasis
Dubai: Lisec, the world's largest manufacturer of high-tech insulating glass and machines for photovoltaic is establishing a research, development and manufacturing facility at its new headquarters at the Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).
The agreement signing ceremony between the two parties was attended by Dr Mohammad Al Zarouni, Vice Chairman, DSO, Dr Jürgen Knorr, CEO of DSO and Peter Lisec, Chief Executive of Lisec.
Dr Mohammad Al Zarouni, said, "The decision of Lisec to locate their advanced research and development (R&D) and manufacturing centre in Dubai further established Dubai as an excellent location for leading-edge electronics engineering companies who want to take advantage of the region's resources and our many offerings."
Peter Lisec, Lisec CEO, said, "We chose Dubai for the company's first major manufacturing site outside Austria for we are definitely sure of the close collaboration of DSO in terms of research and development in the areas of Photovoltaic and thin film technology.
Photovoltaic or solar cells, whose value-chain consists of polysilicon, wafers, solar modules and systems, are paced-age marvel.
They are made of materials thiner than a human hair that, converts Sunlight directly into electricity.
"The market for solar energy is in a rapid growth stage with revenue of more than $35 billion by 2010," Dr Norr said.
Dubai offers quality technical knowhow
"Dubai offers access to excellent engineering talent in the Middle East and surrounding areas," said Peter Lisec, Lisec CEO.
He added that the supportive features of Dubai Silicon Oasis and its proximity to our Middle Eastern, European and Asian customers.
"Our partnership with Dubai Silicon Oasis in the areas of PV and thin film will allow us to become a leader in building façade mounted solar panels market," said Lisec.
