Abu Dhabi: Sharjah are set to hand a debut to their new South Korean midfielder Song Jin-Hyung when they entertain Hatta in the second round of the Arabian Gulf League on Friday.
The King published photos of the 29-year-old in training on Wednesday evening, a day after he joined the club from the K-League Classic side Jeju United.
He has taken the final foreign player spot in the Sharjah squad alongside fellow new signings Gelmin Rivas, Adrian Mierzejewski and Digao.
Song, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or further forward, made his senior professional debut for FC Seoul in 2003. However, he made only 15 league appearances in four years there.
Song enjoyed a more bountiful two seasons in Australia with Newcastle Jets from 2008, helping the club secure the A-League Championship, before he joined Tours FC in the French second division.
Song returned to South Korea in January 2012 and played a crucial role for Jeju, making 165 league appearances and scoring 29 goals. He has represented his national team three times, most recently in 2014.
