Milan: Fabio Borini underwent a medical with AC Milan on Thursday ahead of a £5.3 million move from Sunderland.

“Fabio Borini is undergoing his medicals,” Milan tweeted alongside pictures of the 26-year-old Italian striker.

If Borini — formerly of Chelsea, Roma and Liverpool but who has not yet fulfilled his potential — passes the medical, he will become the fifth deal for Milan in this transfer window after Argentine Mateo Musacchio, Portuguese Andre Silva, Ivorian Franck Kessie and Swiss Ricardo Rodriguez.

Borini had been expected to join Lazio but reports said the Rome club refused his £35,000 per week wage requests.

Milan finished sixth last season in Serie A.
