Dubai: Al Wasl Club are already looking ahead to put together a competitive outfit next season even though their immediate priority is to improve their current standings from the fifth position in Etisalat Pro League.
The club management had a meeting with head coach Diego Maradona on Sunday to discuss the team's current situation and set forth "future plans" and objectives.
According to a club statement, Marwan Bin Beyat, Chairman of Al Wasl Football Company, held the meeting with the Argentine legend ostensibly in the light of Maradona's threat to quit if the club does not sign up more quality players.
The club, meanwhile, are on way to add to their list of sponsors to mount a serious challenge in the domestic championships in future.
Hublot, the renowned Swiss luxury watch brand, is coming on board while the Zabeel outfit has also received offers from Adidas to be their kit sponsors and backers of the Al Wasl Academy for next season.
Bin Beyat, the statement says, emphasised the importance of collaboration and teamwork during the meeting with Maradona to pave the way for a successful next season. The recent string of poor performances and expectations for the rest of the season were also discussed. The importance of ending this season in an advanced League position, in order to maintain or surpass current levels of achievement, was also a topic of great interest.
Bin Beyat also urged Maradona to continue the efforts that have proved fruitful thus far, motivating them towards achieving greater success. He added that management would continue to give the necessary support for the technical team at every step.
