After 17 seasons of heartbreak and near-misses, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally broke their title drought, lifting their first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy with a nail-biting six-run win over Punjab Kings in the 2025 final on Tuesday night.

In a packed Narendra Modi Stadium, RCB held their nerve in the high-stakes clash, defending a competitive total with gritty bowling at the death. The historic victory sent a wave of jubilation through RCB fans, who have waited years for this moment.

But while the spotlight was firmly on Bengaluru’s long-awaited triumph, the post-match ceremony also recognised the standout performers of the season with a slew of individual awards.

Sudharsan steals the season

Gujarat Titans’ top-order batter B Sai Sudharsan had a breakout season, dominating the run charts with 759 runs to win the Orange Cap. The left-hander's consistency also earned him the Emerging Player of the Season award. His tally of 88 boundaries was the highest by any player this year, and he topped the fantasy points chart with 1,495 — underlining his all-round impact.

Suryakumar named MVP

Mumbai Indians’ talismanic batter Suryakumar Yadav was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of IPL 2025. Despite Mumbai falling short of the final, Suryakumar’s explosive performances throughout the campaign earned him 320.5 MVP points, the highest of any player. His ability to turn matches single-handedly kept MI in the hunt until the business end of the tournament.

Suryavanshi makes a statement

Among the season's fresh faces, Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Suryavanshi stood out with his aggressive batting. In his debut IPL season, the 22-year-old bagged the Super Striker of the Season award with a staggering strike rate of 207 — the best of the tournament — making him one of the league's most promising finishers.

Bowling brilliance and fielding feats

Gujarat Titans also saw success in the bowling department, with pace spearhead Prasidh Krishna claiming the Purple Cap for his 25 wickets. Mohammed Siraj, also from GT, led the season in dot balls bowled with 151, showcasing his control in pressure situations.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Kamindu Mendis earned the Best Catch of the Season for his airborne dismissal of Dewald Brevis against CSK — a highlight-reel moment in an otherwise mixed season for the Hyderabad franchise.

Additional honours

Lucknow Super Giants’ Nicholas Pooran smashed the most sixes this season with 40, while Chennai Super Kings were awarded the Fair Play Award for their consistent sportsmanship and discipline.

The Delhi District Cricket Association was recognised for maintaining top-quality playing conditions, winning the Best Pitch and Ground award for their work at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
