Saudi Arabia: World's largest AC system ensures comfort at Prophet's Mosque

Creating a pleasant environment for millions of worshippers at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina is a key focus for the Saudi government.

Located seven kilometers away from the Prophet's Mosque, the central air conditioning station sprawls across a massive 70,000 square meters.

It features the world's largest water-cooling condenser, operating alongside six powerful chillers, each capable of handling 3,400 tons. These chillers generate chilled water, achieving a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius.

Employing cutting-edge technology guarantees effective water distribution across the system. Cooled water is routed to 151 air handling units, which then circulate cool air through a network of pipes integrated within the mosque's pillars. This method maintains a comfortable and uniform temperature throughout the expansive area.

In the vast courtyards surrounding the mosque, 436 misting fans create a refreshing atmosphere for worshippers. This system undergoes ongoing sterilization to uphold the quality and safety of the water mist
