Dubai Metro Route 2020 to start operations on January 1

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority announced on Saturday that Route 2020, the Dubai Metro extension on the Red Line to Expo 2020 Dubai, will be opened to passengers from January 1, 2021

The first journey on Route 2020 will start from Jebel Ali Station to Al Furjan Station and back with six trains per hour.

The release added that the waiting time between each train would be 10 minutes, while the total time taken for the journey between the Jebel Ali and Al Furjan stations would be six minutes

[Expo 2020 station featured] The initial operation phase would only cover four stations, namely: Jebel Ali (interchange station), The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, and Al Furjan Stations

[Expo 2020 station featured] All the four operating stations are elevated stations. The first is the Jebel Ali Station, an interchange station with the Red Line.

[Expo 2020 station featured] The second is the Gardens station covering 8100 square metres in area and extending 168 metres in length. It can serve 6770 riders per hour during peak times and 125,000 riders per day.

[Expo 2020 station featured] Studies also reveal that Expo Station is expected to serve about 35,000 daily visitors of Expo during weekdays, and the number to increase to 47,000 daily visitors during weekends.
