Valentine’s Day special: Kiara Advani-Sidharth Malhotra, Ishaan Khattar-Ananya Panday and other rumoured star couples from Bollywood

Keeping an eagle eye on celebrity social media accounts pays rich dividends … at least sometimes. While crammed social media reels can sometimes offer up a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment to confirm rumoured relationships, this is not often the case. That’s when the Bollywood rumour mill comes in handy. With Valentine’s Day upon us, here’s a look at some stars whose link-ups have made headlines but the couples have yet to make it official.

Aadar Jain and Tara Sutaria: They are often spotted together, jet-setting and globetrotting. You’ll often find the actors hanging out with their entire families. But, are they together? So far we don’t have confirmation. The only thing Jain will say for sure is, “We are in a very happy space right now."

Shraddha Kapoor and Rohan Shrestha: She didn’t get into a relationship with an actor, but Shrestha is quite well versed in celebrity. But while they are often seen together, Shakti Kapoor, Shraddha’s dad, has said Shrestha hasn’t made things marriage official.

Abhay Deol and Saireena Mamik: It’s not uncommon for stars to get into relationships with their managers – and this seems to be the case here as well. Now, say sources, the two are moving in together. Good luck, we say. Good luck.

Taapsee Pannu and Mathias Boe: Steller actor Pannu isn’t talking about who she’s dating, going as far as saying in an interview with Indian media, "I didn’t want to date someone from the industry for this very reason. I want to keep my personal and professional lives separate.” But she has posted a tonne of photos from her holiday with badminton player Mathias – who she called ‘part of my inner circle’.

Jahnvi Kapoor and Akshat Rajan: This off and on couple is thought to be on again after Kapoor reportedly wished him with an 'I love you' on his birthday.

Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra: Stories of their rumoured romance have been making the rounds in Bollywood for months now, but all whispers became a loud boom when Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani were spotted at Mumbai airport ahead of their departure for New Year’s Eve last year, which was spent in Maldives. Kiara, when asked about Sidharth, explained to Hindustan Times: "As a friend, I’d say he is one of my closest friends in the industry."

The couple appeared to have fun bonding with nature, where they are seen in separate images lying in their respective hammocks and basking in the sunshine, even as the resort name matched on both their images. Their tell-tale tan upon return also gave things a healthy glow.

Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter: Despite not earning favourable reviews for their film outing last year in ‘Khaali Peeli’, the star couple certainly are earning accolades for their envious pictures snapped on their New Year’s vacation in the Maldives. Even if the couple have yet to make things official, the fact that they left for the Maldives on the same flight and their Instagram tags the same Maldivian resort, it is safe to say Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter crossed paths in the idyllic locale.

Their vacation was full on sunshine and adventures under water, with Panday posting: “We saw dolphins!!! (ft. the last and most beautiful sunset of 2020).” On the same day, Khatter went on to post: “Choppy waters this year.. but the sun still rose every morning. Here’s sending luck and love to everybody for a more prosperous and happy year… they say Dolphins are lucky. The last sunset, a final goodbye to 2020. Bring it on 2021.” Aww, young love.

Disha Patani and Tiger Shroff: They may call each other ‘good friends’, but rumoured couple Disha Patani and Tiger Shroff have been by each other’s side for many seasons. When Shroff brought his Matrix Fight Night to Dubai while promoting his film ‘Baaghi 3’, he was accompanied by co-star Shraddha Kapoor and Patani. The NYE getaway to Maldives also saw the duo side by side at the airport.

While the couple have worked on the track ‘Befikra’ and starred in ‘Baaghi 2’, they have never made their relationship official. When quizzed about being in love in an interview with Pinkvilla, Patani stated first impressions matter the most. “I have fallen in love at first sight too. For me, it’s very important to fall in love. I love those feeling of those butterflies on the first day. If I don’t feel it on the first day, I feel it’s not there.”

Shroff when quizzed about Patani said: “I love Disha, as a friend, she is fun to work with. We are very comfortable with each other on the set and also off-screen. She is a very talented, hardworking girl and she pushes me to work harder. We like spending time together, we go for dance rehearsals, sometimes we meet in the gym, I love to eat, she loves to eat, so every now and then we go and eat.”

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna: The celebrity couple, who first met on the sets of their 2018 film ‘Geetha Govindam’, won accolades for their on-screen chemistry. But it was only after the 2019 pairing in ‘Dear Comrade’ (pictured) that sparks and rumours began to fly.

And while the couple continue to deny there’s anything brewing between them over the years, their fans think otherwise, especially when videos surfaced in December 2021 with the two stars sharing a romantic meal in Mumbai.

Interestingly, both Deverakonda and Mandanna are gearing up to step into Bollywood with new films. The former will be seen romancing Ananya Panday in Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming film ‘Liger’, while Mandanna will be seen opposite Sidharth Malhotra in ‘Mission Majnu’, a spy thriller directed by Shantanu Bagchi.
