Kareena Kapoor’s house party, Taapsee Pannu’s UAE holiday: Here’s how Bollywood brought in 2022

With a celebrations across parts of India brought to a halt due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, the New Year’s Eve parties moved indoors with close family and friends, while some of the Bollywood big guns flew the coop for the big night, with several of them even making their way to the UAE. Here’s a look:

Power couple Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan took the party indoors by hosting a pyjama party at their Mumbai home with Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu, along with some members of the Kapoor family. Both, Kareena and Soha took to their Instagrams to share a glimpse of her New Year dinner. Saif and Kareena’s son Taimur Ali Khan also joined the family dinner.

Kareena also joked that only 50 per cent of her dear ones attended the dinner that included her uncle Kunal Kapoor and her cousin Shaira Kapoor. All of them were also seen wearing golden hats with ‘Happy New Year’ written on them as they all posed for a happy picture.

Having a different sort of celebration was Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut who traveled to the Tirupati Balaji temple to seek blessings for 2022. Taking to her Instagram handle on Saturday, Ranaut posted a picture in which she can be seen dressed in a saree with gold earrings. “Happy New year to everyone...Starting this year with blessings from Tirupati Balaji...Hope this one is a memorable one.” She further expressed that this year she wants more love and fewer police complaints and FIRs following a string of complaints and legal proceedings filed in her name in 2021.

Keeping up with the tradition of sharing special moments from her intimate celebrations, actor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja gave a sneak-peek into her love-filled New Year celebrations with her husband, Anand Ahuja. Taking to her Instagram, Kapoor Ahuja shared a series of pictures to give a glimpse of the celebration at her Notting Hill home in London. The pictures included the happy couple packing a romantic kiss while posing for the camera. The duo can be seen twinning in black for the special occasion. “Happy new year to the love of my life. He is not just #everydayphenomenal, he is everyyearphenomenal and the person I want to spend every new year with. Wishing all of you good health, happiness and fulfilment in 2022,” posted the actress.

Power couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli rang in the New Year with their 11-month-old daughter Vamika in South Africa, where the India Test skipper is gearing up to lock horns against the Proteas in the second test, starting Monday. Sharing a sneak peek into the New Year celebrations with her family and friends, Sharma wrote: “The year that got us the greatest happiness I’ve known. So, deepest gratitude 2021, thank you!” For the unversed, Kohli and Sharma welcomed their daughter Vamika last year.

Wishing her fans on the eve of the new year, Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt, who has flown away to an unknown location to celebrate the occasion with Ranbir Kapoor, also shared some pictures from her vacation in the lead up to the celebrations. Taking to her Instagram, the ‘RRR’ actor posted a series of pictures from her New Year getaway, which also included a picture of Kapoor.

“Giving 2022 some hakuna matata energy. Stay safe... smile... Be simple and love more!!!!! Happy New Year,” Bhatt captioned her post. In the first photo, Bhatt is seen flashing a smile, while in the subsequent one, Kapoor is drinking from a chalice. She also shared images of giraffes and lions in the wild, followed by a picture of the landscape bathed in the glow of the setting sun, indicating they were on a safari.

Akshay Kumar started 2022 on a positive note by greeting his oldest friend — the sun. Kumar, who is currently holidaying with his family in the Maldives, posted a video staring at the sun with him chanting the Gayatri Mantra, a Hindu prayer. “New year, same me. Woke up and greeted my old friend, the sun and started my 2022 with all things positive except for Covid. Praying for everyone’s good health and happiness. Happy New Year!” Kumar wrote.

Taapsee Pannu, who has been seen zipping around Abu Dhabi this past week, spent the New Year in the UAE, celebrating with her sister Shagun Pannu. Sharing a picture of herself, kissing her sister, the actress wrote: “Bringing it in with lot of love! And hoping for the same love back from 2022!”

Also in the UAE was Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra, who spent a few days holidaying in Dubai this past week, before heading to Caesars Bluewaters Island to ring in the last day of 2021.

Joining him on the night of celebrations was actor Aditya Seal who was with his wife, model-actress Anushka Ranjan, and sister-in-law Akansha Ranjan. Seal shared pictures of their big night on Instagram. — With inputs from ANI
