To say Rhea Chakraborty has polarized Bollywood would be an understatement. She’s been harassed by media, called gold digger by industry peers and drug supplier by the family and fans of her late boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput. There have been some however who have come out in support of her even at the risk of facing fan and media ire. Here’s a look at how celebrities are reacting to the latest developments in her case – she was arrested on Tuesday.

‘Thappad’ actress Taapsee Pannu tweeted a news clip that stated Rajput’s family lawyer had said that the drugs case wasn’t filed by them. The actor said, “So she was neither a gold digger, nor murderer but she consumed/transferred drugs. Toh yeh case jiska bhi tha usko mubarak ho. Coz Sushant ko toh nahi but un logo ko pakka justice mil gaya hoga. Mubarak Ho [Whoever has filed this case congratulations, because although Sushant didn’t get justice whoever filed the case did.]”

Rajput’s former girlfriend Ankita Lokhande lauded the move with a cryptic post about karma.

Actor Shekhar Suman, who has been clamouring for an investigation since Rajput died on June 14, tweeted: Big Victory. ‘City of Life’ actress Kubbra Sait had a supportive message for Rhea’s parents. She tweeted : “May the universe give the parents of Rhea the strength through this devastating time. Arrested by NCB. Still not a murderer. #MediaCircus I wonder your conversations over your shaam ki chai [evening tea].”

Other actors and filmmakers showed their support for Rhea by putting up on social media a slogan: “Roses are red, Violets are blue, Let’s smash the patriarchy, me and you”. This was also the note on Rhea’s T-shirt when she arrived at NCB headquarters for questioning a day ago. Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor, Neha Dhupia Malaika Arora and many more only posted the quote on social media also extended their support to Rhea in the same way.

Celebrities such as Vidya Balan, ShibDandekar and Anurag Kashyap, and others took to social media to share the quote. They tagged their tweets #JusticeFor Rhea.

Sonam Kapoor put up the slogan on her Instagram with the quote, “Everyone loves a witch hunt as long as it’s someone else’s witch being hunted - Walter Kirn”.

Meanwhile, Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti lauded the decision to arrest Rhea, posting on social media, “Don’t Worry, have patience! The whole truth will unfold eventually. 🙏 Don’t pay any attention to the Naysayers and Paid PR. NCB, CBI and ED they are doing an impeccable job, let’s have faith in them.
