From Siddhant Chaturvedi to Mrunal Thakur nothing can stop these Bollywood stars from getting ahead

Does nepotism rule in Bollywood? The debate isn’t over but there are some exceptional talents who make favouritism seem like a bad dream. From ‘Gully Boy’s Siddhant Chaturvedi to ‘Love Sonia’s Mrunal Thakur these actors give credence to the idea that if you work hard and have aptitude nothing can stop you from success.

Siddhant Chaturvedi , who worked on the Mumbai rap drama ‘Gully Boy’, faced the real prospect of being overshadowed in his debut work. However not only did he hold his own during screentime alongside star Ranveer Singh, some said he did a better job. Chaturvedi, who hails from Utter Pradesh, has no connection to the film industry – it’s only talent and gumption that have led him this far – it’s courage when it counts.

Mrunal Thakur, who earned herself a huge fan following during her stint on TV’s Kumkum Bhagya’, has worked in Marathi and international projects. Thakur’s movie credits includes ‘Love Sonia’ and ‘Super 30’. Next up, you can see her in ‘Toofan’.

Avinash Tiwary’s debut in 2018 love story 'Laila Majnu' may not have done well at the box office but it definitely got people’s attention. He’s got himself a new gig now – ‘Ghost Stories’, out on Netflix. And he’s also the lead in in Anushka Sharma’s scary production ‘Bulbbul’. His future project the Hindi remake of ‘The Girl On The Train’.

Another child actor gone super star is Fatima, who worked in Kamal Haasan's 1997 hit ‘Chachi 420’ and went on to act as lead in ‘Dangal’. She now has two more upcoming projects, Anurag Basu’s next and a horror-comedy with Saif Ali Khan.

Mohammad Samad is somewhat of an acting genius. He started working at age 12 in the National Award-winning movie ‘Gattu’. His last production was Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Chhichhore’. He played their son in the film.

You may remember Sanya Malhotra from ‘Dangal’, but she’s not going to let anyone pigeon-hole her. After an already eclectic body of work, she’s already on the lookout for her next, not-yet-done role. She was last seen in Shakuntala Devi – now available on Amazon Prime - starring Vidya Balan in the eponymous role.

By the age of 28, Jim Sarbh had already established himself in Mumbai’s theatre scene, but to become a household name would take time. This changed when he acted alongside Sonam Kapoor in ‘Neerja’. Sarbh’s other movies include ‘Death in the Gunj’ and ‘Yeh Ballet’.
