'Elf on the Shelf': From Priyanka Chopra to Madhuri Dixit, Bollywood and Hollywood stars are in on this challenge

If there’s one thing you can count on celebrities to do, it’s to bring the drama. This time, the fun comes from a tradition known as ‘Elf on the Shelf’ – where parents put a little toy elf in a house and tell their children that it reports on whether they are being naughty or nice to Santa. The Hollywood version however is a post of a celeb with another celeb Photoshopped on their shoulder. The difficult part? The actors’ names must rhyme.

Hollywood actor Garcelle kicked off the show. She posted a meme of herself that read, “You’ve heard of Elf on a Shelf now get ready for this”. In the image, Garcelle’s photo was on Pharrell Williams’ shoulder. Then, other celebs took it up a notch. Here's what happened.

‘Hunger Games’ star Elizabeth Banks and Tom Hanks made quite a pair on her Insta post.

And then there was some ‘Grease Lightening’. Reese Witherspoon had a 1978 ‘Grease’ movie version of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta dancing on her shoulder. She captioned it: “Oh hey @elizabethbanks! I see your Hanks-on-Banks and I raise you a Grease-on-Reese.”

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Mariah Carey kept with the theme, showing Jim Carrey’s Grinch on her shoulder.

Actor Kerry Washington went for funny - she Photoshopped a clown version of Katy Perry on her shoulder.

This Chrismas, Nicole Kidman's gift to us is her pet name and we know it because...good ol' Nic put Mick Jagger on her shoulder.

The 'Baywatch' star Priyanka Chopra hopped on to Instagram and shared photo of herself with American Talk show host Oprah Winfrey on her shoulder. Chopra captioned the post as, "Oprah on Chopra. Boom. (laughing with teary eyes emoji) #hadto #myelf @oprah."

While Priyanka Chopra was the first celeb from Bollywood to try out the challenge, several other stars joined the list. Devdas' star Madhuri Dixit, shared a photo of herself with Rihanna on her shoulder. She captioned the post, ‘’Ri Ri on Madhuri. Did it for the gram. #ElfonShelf #ShoulderFriends #MyElf."

Dressed in an all checkered ensemble, the ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety ’ actress also added a quirky caption for her post which read, “And then I thought, why not? Nusr-et on Nushrratt 🤪 #MyElf #ElfOnShelf”

Sonakshi Sinha added an artsy touch to her meme, her Instagram moniker is 'Asli Sona', referring to which she captioned the post: "Sona pe Mona. #MyElf (how did this even start?).

Rakul Preet Singh's elf was popular F.R.I.E.N.D.S character Chandler Bing, of course. "Got some Bing on this Singh. #Myelf #FRIENDS," wrote Rakul Preet Singh.

The ‘Hulk’ Mark Ruffalo paid homage to a character from the MCU universe that we lost in ’Avengers Endgame’: Tony Stark, or Iron Man (played by Robert Downey Jr).
