The issue of inheritance is very simple for me and probably many people who follow the Islamic faith as it’s the allocation of the wealth and assets are clearly mentioned in the Quran and thankfully the government has embedded the same guidelines into the laws of the inheritance which fall under the Sharia.

Therefore, it’s quite clear how my parents will proceed with their inheritance to their children and the same will apply for me. In terms of donating to charity or to orphans, that is also included in our religion, but as we all know, charity begins at home!

Parents have a duty to educate their children by informing them about the detailed process of leaving behind their inheritance and should lead by example. In today’s world we’re taken by the luxuries promoted by all sorts of high-end brands and luxury living, which is completely against the very morals and values of our true history, religion and tradition, that promotes modesty. And this has unfortunately led to many problems in the society that we live in.

If we take a second and go back to basics and remember how our forefathers lived in peace, harmony and modesty, the battle of getting the bigger chunk of the wealth wouldn’t be as dramatic as it is today.

In the end of the day, money comes and goes, human beings come and go, we live today, die tomorrow, we leave the money behind, but take our deeds with us. If anything regarding inheritance, it should definitely cover the values instilled in the children more than just worldly gains.
