Style story: Fifty shades of purple

You may not have got your head around shopping for your winter wardrobe quite yet (and it being almost 50 degrees outside, it’s totally understandable), but how about easing yourself into one of autumn’s major trends with a trans-seasonal style solution? A pre-cursor to the biggest colour story of A/W (that’s purple, btw), lilac was a focal shade of the resort and haute couture collections, with everyone from Louis Vuitton and Versace to Giambattista Valli and Valentino sending elegant mauve looks for both day and night down the runways. Effortlessly feminine, but less girly than pink, melding summer’s parma violet pastels with more mellow tones of mauve in readiness for the new season, lilac has made it’s mark as the mid-season must-try.
