Dubai-based Furne One got a call from old friend Katy Perry this week ahead of her Dubai Airshow gala performance. The Filipino designer, who’s dressed a number of top Hollywood stars with his label Amato, is a favourite of the pop star, undoubtedly one of the biggest names in music right now. One created 10 of the costumes for Perry’s record-breaking California Dreams tour and for her 2012 concert in Dubai.

But for the invite-only Dubai Airshow gala gig at Atlantis, The Palm, the designer had four days to create the outfit.

“She wanted something that represented Dubai so I quickly sketched something and sent it her way. The stylist arranges all her costumes but Katy has to approve each of them,” he tells tabloid!

The keywords this time were ‘Fireworks’, ‘Dubai’ and ‘Galaxy’.

“She arrived the night before, right after getting off a 16-hour flight and we did the fitting at her hotel. She was really tired but still a good sport.”

For the first half of the hour-long performance, Perry wore a bodysuit with a tiny peplum skirt printed with stars to represent the galaxy.

Then, later in the evening, she added a bigger poufy skirt, with the skyline of Dubai printed on it.

“We only had four days to do it and just two very rushed fittings. But I think she looked amazing at the show,” One says.
