Dubai: Police in Abu Dhabi recently surprised an Indian family by celebrating the birthday of their 11-year-old son.

And what was the reason behind it?

According to a senior police officer, the child had said that he wanted to become a policeman when he grew up.

Abu Dhabi Police responded to the boy’s wish by calling the family to Al Rawdah police station, where they were welcomed by Hamad Abdullah Al Afa'ri, the director of the police station.

The boy was able to dress up in a police uniform and received cake and a number of gifts from police.

Lt Col Abdullah Mohammed Awad, deputy director of the community police department, said the initiative was part of Abu Dhabi Police's happiness strategy to promote a positive partnership with the community, achieve security and stability, happiness and to encourage positive social behaviour.
