What to expect The Meat Company at Madinat Jumeirah has been held in such high regard by the UAE community for so many years that we all know what to expect – great steaks, good service and a welcoming atmosphere, guaranteed. The Souk Al Bahar branch offers nothing less.

In fact, it may even offer more as it has a private dining room (which seats up to 12) and a romantic Chef’s Table for two. Also, the terrace area is within eyeshot of the Dubai Fountain (which nobody ever seems to get bored of).

Meeting a friend for a mid-week supper, we arrived with intentions of restraint. These crumbled as we tucked into warm potato and onion bread while looking at the menu.
Starters of yummy red chili prawns with delicate Thai-style flavouring, and salt and pepper calamari paved the way for a great meal. For mains, juicy, perfectly cooked 160-day American Black Angus steaks, served with chunky chips, and various sides and sauces – vodka and blue cheese sauce? win! With no room for a heavy pudding, we tried a seriously dreamy milkshake made with homemade ice cream (spice it up with your favourite liqueur), which was a sweet end to a rich, decadent meal.

Three of the best jazz supper clubs

C Club, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray

The Gramercy, DIFC
2. We love The Gramercy’s bustling bistro feel and pretty decor. They offer live jazz multiple nights of the week. For a great night out with the girls, check out their Latin Ladies Night, where girls get four free drinks and can enjoy tasty dishes for Dh40. To book a table, call 04-4377511.

Mövenpick Ibn Battuta Gate BN
3.Not strictly speaking a jazz supper club, but a fab jazz/mealtime experience – The Gate offers its family-friendly Jazz Sumptuous Brunch on Fridays from 12.30pm to 4pm. Five eating venues are involved, but book at Al Bahou for maximum vibe. Prices start at Dh295. Call 04-4440000.
