Dubai: 7 reasons Al Quoz should be on your weekend exploration list

Al Quoz is known for its many industrial areas, car shops and supermarkets but it also has a great selection of places that you could head to for a unique experience or two. From movie screenings and dive lessons to fun workshops and a history lesson, here’s why you should explore Al Quoz.

Al Quoz is centrally placed between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. The area is divided into residential, commercial and industrial. The nearest metro station is the Al Safa metro station which has now been renamed as OMPASSIVE for 10 years. Nearby malls include Times Square and Oasis Center Malls towards Sheikh Zayed Road, and Al Quoz Mall, Al Khail Mall and Grand City Mall further in.

While the area is a challenging web of transport containers and identical-looking streets, if you take the time to explore, you’ll find some gems.

If you want to just relax and take in the cool weather, head to a hidden oasis of sorts called The Courtyard. With cobbled walkways and lush foliage, it is at a stark contrast to Al Quoz’s reputation as an industry-heavy area. Art galleries, eateries, kids’ workshops, markets, and more await visitors here. For families with children, the area has a couple of options to work out all that energy. Take the family to Bounce Dubai which is a trampoline park and let them go wild. With a huge free jumping arena, dodgeball court, performance area and a giant inflatable airbag, both parents and kids can feel at home here.

Another one for families with kids, OliOli is an interactive space featuring a range of installations, science labs and a cars gallery. The space is designed to promote learning and follows the the STEAM education theme (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths).

A location that is totally different from what people know of Al Quoz is the Pond Park there. The free park has a running track, playground and a pond, and is perfect for family strolls.

Get your dose of history at the Antique Museum, spread over 72,000 square feet, which boasts an eclectic collection of goods from furniture to souvenirs for your home.

For movie lovers, Cinema Akil offers the opportunity to enjoy indie movies every week.
