Dubai: Dozens of die-hard fans of Bollywood star Salman Khan thronged Grand Cineplex complex on Monday to catch a glimpse of their favourite matinee idol.

In Dubai for the premiere of his latest film London Dreams, Khan was dwarfed by the sea of people closing in on him. Both young and old pushed against the barricades and tripped over each other to get nearer to the actor. If the screams and howls from frenzied teenagers are anything to go by, the 43-year-old Khan was still their heartthrob. Gliding in with the rising Bollywood star Asin - his co-star in the film, Khan gathered his wits in no time.

"I love being in Dubai. I love this place and I think this city has a mix of both East and West. It feels great to be back,” Khan said. Peddling his movie in his innate style, Khan said he was proud to unveil his latest film London Dreams since he was confident about the quality of the product.

"I have seen this film and it's a really good one. Normally, if the movie was a bad one you will not find me standing right here on the stage and talking about it. Instead you would have caught me doing something charitable to earn a bit of goodwill," Khan said.

The stars made a hasty exit soon after their short promotional speeches. Even their exit was eventful as their entry. Screeching fans trailed them till his beefy bouncers brought the situation under control.

As Bollywood buff and Khan fan Mithun Raj puts it - Khan is one of the few actors who can trigger stampede where he goes.

"He is one of my favourite actors and I waited for more than two hours to see him. He has this effect on people," Raj said.

A couple of days ago, the Wanted star had unleashed a similar scenario at a press conference in Mumbai during the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
