Former child star Raquel Lee Bolleau alleges sexual assault at 14 by Disney employee, sues studio

A Disney employee sexually assaulted a 14-year-old actor multiple times during the filming of a Disney Channel movie in 2001, according to a civil lawsuit filed against The Walt Disney Company last week.

According to People, the actor, Raquel Lee Bolleau, now 39, filed the complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, Aug ust 21. The lawsuit identifies the alleged assailant only as an unnamed, middle-aged male Disney employee, and states that he supplied Bolleau with alcohol before assaulting her while she filmed The Poof Point. The alleged assaults took place while cast and crew were staying in Salt Lake City, as well as during a flight back to California, per the complaint.

The lawsuit also alleges that Disney had the opportunity to intervene and didn't. According to the complaint, production staff encouraged Bolleau to "bond" with the employee, kept her separated from her guardian, and failed to supervise her appropriately. She alleges the employee "would torment" her on set, making comments in front of other adults on the crew, and that "no one at Disney intervened."

Bolleau claims that adults working on the film noticed a marked shift in her behavioir and performance once the alleged abuse began, including that she appeared sick and intoxicated, which she describes as "a stark difference from the dedicated, studious and diligent child actress who had joined the movie." Rather than looking into the change, the complaint alleges, Disney executives blamed her, labeled her "out of control," and pulled her from a role she'd been set to take on next.

Bolleau's attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim, said in a statement to People: "Over the last decade, countless child actors have come forward to bravely share their experiences of abuse by adults in entertainment. As former government prosecutors, our message to the entertainment industry is simple: This conduct is inexcusable, and those involved — directly or indirectly — must be held accountable."

Bolleau went on to voice a recurring role in Disney Channel's The Proud Family (2001–2005) and later reprised it in the Disney+ revival The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder (2022–2025).
