India Republic Day 2021: From Kangana Ranaut to Kareena Kapoor, Bollywood actors wish fans

Among the Indian stars who wished fans on India’s 72nd Republic Day was Priyanka Chopra Jonas (pictured), who fired off a series of tweets. She wrote alongside a slideshow of monochrome photos featuring Indian women leaders: “I’ve been researching and reading a lot about women in governance across the world and how their skills have impacted communities and countries. It’s been enlightening, fascinating and so insightful to understand the importance of women in leadership.”

“I’d like to share an interesting piece of information I came across recently and today seems to be the perfect day to post about what I learned. Did you know that there were 15 women in the first Constituent Assembly of India and that they helped draft the Constitution of India? So inspiring and also an apt day to celebrate the effort of all those who helped build the fundamental principles of India. Happy Republic Day,” she wrote with a photo of the women (posted above).

Mum-to-be Kareena Kapoor Khan wrote, “Freedom in our mind, strength in our words, pureness in our blood, pride in our souls...Wish you a very Happy Republic Day.” She also posted a small video alongside the caption.

New mum and dad Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma sent out wishes too. Indian skipper Kohli wrote, "The future depends on what we do today. Let's be the strength of our nation and help it reach greater heights. Wishing everyone Happy Republic Day. Jai Hind."

Actor Aamir Khan posted a photo of a flag being hoisted and tweeted: “Ganatantra Divas ki hum sab ko dher saari shubh kaamnayein.” [Happy Republic Day everyone.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra tweeted: "Bahattarwe (72nd) Gantantra Diwas ki dheron shubhkaamnayein. Happy Republic Day to every Indian. Let’s pledge to uphold the rights & duties that our constitution has given us... not only for ourselves, but also for each of our fellow citizens 🧡🤍💚 Jai Hind!"

Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted a number of photographs of himself with the Indian flag and captioned them: "“Happiness peace prosperity and .. be safe .. be protected."

Tanushree Dutta decided to wear a sari to mark the day. She captioned the picture: “The whole nine yards...suits me doesnt it?? Who needs size zero if u can drape it and shape it. India Rox!! @ 26th January #happyrepublicday.”

‘Pink’ actor Taapsee Pannu had a serious message to share. She wrote: “ On 72nd Republic Day here’s wishing and hoping that we all read and understand our constitution as much as we celebrate it. Will help us be more patriotic than what we actually are. Jai Hind #HappyRepublicDay2021.”

Kangana Ranaut, known for her controversial remarks, tweeted: “On this Republic Day know your constitution and how you got freedom, lot of people did lot of PR and took credit also twisted our history but the deserving ones simply gave their lives they clearly couldn’t do any PR...#HappyRepublicDay2021.”

Actor-turned-politician Hema Malini tweeted: “Let us celebrate this wonderful day, a landmark day in the history of our great nation.”

Bollywood powerhouse John Abraham took to Instagram to wish his fans on the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day. While wishing his fans, he also shared the new release date of his movie. Along with a picture that features the star holding the Indian national flag, he wrote, "TANN MANN DHANN, se Badhkar JANN GANN MANN! The team of #SatyamevaJayate2 wishes everyone a Happy Republic Day! See you in cinemas this EID on 14th May 2021."
