Foundation stone laid at DP World’s India port expansion

Investing $200 million to build new terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai

Dubai: India’s Minister of Shipping GK Vasan laid the foundation stone at DP World’s new Nhava Sheva Gateway terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The new terminal will add 800,000 TEU (20-foot equivalent units) of container capacity to the port. DP World is investing $200 million to build the new terminal with the port already operating beyond capacity.

The foundation stone ceremony was also attended by India’s Minister of State for Shipping Milind Deora, Chairman of DP World Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem and Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port NN Kumar.
