Dubai: Emirates and Air Canada will extend their strategic partnership to 2032 under a new multi-year agreement that expands codeshare routes, loyalty benefits and cargo cooperation. The deal builds on a partnership launched in 2022 that has already served more than 550,000 customers across 56 codeshare routes and provided access to over 225 destinations worldwide.

Air Canada’s Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and President, Cargo, Mark Galardo, said the renewal supports rising travel and trade flows between Canada, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia.

“Air Canada’s partnership with Emirates has been highly successful… This agreement strengthens our international strategy and provides customers and shippers seamless connections.”

Airlines strengthen network

Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said the expansion enhances both airlines’ passenger and cargo capabilities.

“This agreement strengthens our passenger and cargo offerings while expanding network connectivity for travellers across both markets.”

The carriers will also improve premium-travel benefits, deepen operational coordination and expand reciprocal loyalty redemptions, including planned access to each other’s Premium Economy cabins. Air Canada’s move to Emirates’ Terminal 3 in Dubai has already streamlined transfers and lounge access.

Cargo and trade cooperation

Both airlines will increase cargo collaboration and are exploring a potential joint venture. Trade between Canada and the UAE has been rising, with Canadian exports reaching C$3.3 billion in 2024 and Emirates cargo tonnage from Canada up 37 per cent year-on-year.

Air Canada operates daily Dreamliner flights to Dubai. Emirates flies daily A380 services to Toronto and seven weekly flights to Montréal.
