Kia Motors has revealed the first official images of the next-generation Sorento SUV, ahead of its first public appearance at the 2020 Geneva International Motor Show early next month.

Kia says the designers have based the new SUV’s lines of the concept of ‘refined boldness’. This means they have sought to create a blend of a robust aesthetic with a high degree of refinement and elegance.

The new Sorento’s design incorporates sharper lines, making it noticeably more chiseled than its more rounded predecessor.

The front shows off a new interpretation of Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille, which is now wider and wraps around the integrated headlamps on each side. The headlamps get a new ‘tiger eye’ LED daytime running light incorporated into them, adding to the new Sorento’s sharp countenance..

The trailing edge of the bonnet wraps around the front wings and extends into a strong character line along the sides of the Sorento flowing into the vertical taillights.

In profile, the proportions of the Sorento have been adapted to make it appear longer, with shorter front and rear overhangs and a longer wheelbase. The new design also extends the length of the bonnet, drawing the A-pillar 30mm further back from the front axle for a more ‘cab-rearward’ design.

The fourth-generation model is based on an all-new platform, and is said to be packed with a host of the latest connectivity, driver assist and infotainment technologies.

The new Sorento is the result of a collaborative effort of Kia’s global design network, in Korea, Europe and North America.
