Artist walks 45,000 steps to create massive snow art

Simon Beck created the 53,092 square-metre logo to mark the Range Rover's 50th anniversary

Land Rover has kicked off a year of celebration to mark the Range Rover’s 50th anniversary by creating a colossal piece of sub-zero art at its cold weather test facility in Arjeplog, close to the Arctic Circle in Sweden.

The 260m-wide artwork filled the centre of the steering pad at the test track where all future Land Rover models are tested.

The 53,092 square-metre anniversary logo was created by renowned snow artist Simon Beck by walking more than 45,000 steps across the powdery surface inside the steering pad.

The creation of the Range Rover anniversary logo at the Arctic Circle marks the beginning of a year-long celebration of the premium SUV's golden jubilee.

Beck was accompanied by four of the latest Range Rover SV models that created the outer circle of the logo by drifting around the steering pad.

Land Rover’s Arjeplog facility uses a frozen lake to provide optimum conditions for engineers to test and assess their latest models.

Arjeplog is also home to the Jaguar Land Rover Ice Academy, where customers experience the thrill of dynamic ice driving, under careful instruction from world-class driving experts.

The Range Rover family will mark 50 years of leading the premium SUV segment in June, on the anniversary of the introduction of the original two-door Range Rover in 1970.
