These culprits exploited major enterprises across multiple countries by infiltrating email correspondences between company leaders and branch managers. Dubbed "Monopoly," the operation, led by Dubai Police's specialised Anti-Cybercrime Team, resulted in the arrest of 43 suspects from various nationalities, exposing the identity of the gang leader and 20 accomplices. The criminals orchestrated a two-phase money transfer amounting to an estimated $36 million. The operation's success was marked by the issuance of an international pursuit and arrest warrant, a “red notice”, against the masterminds, effectively dismantling one of the most perilous international hacking and fraud syndicates while recovering the stolen funds. The operation started with a report through the anti-cybercrime platform, e-crime.ae. This prompt response highlights the significance of robust cybersecurity measures and Dubai's dedication to combating cybercrime.
