Celebrating 50-year of UAE-Egypt relations: Three-day celebrations to mark 50th anniversary of UAE and Egypt relations began in Cairo on Wednesday. The relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect and cooperation. The celebrations in Cairo are being held under the slogan ‘Egypt and the UAE -- One Heart”. Ministers and officials from the UAE and Egypt, and around 1,800 Emirati and Egyptian personalities, including politicians, senior officials, businesspersons, intellectuals, innovators, media professionals and public figures are attending the celebrations. The event will definitely help further enhance bilateral cooperation between the countries. (By Ashfaq Ahmed, Senior Assistant Editor)

DUBAI DEVELOPERS RECREATE THE ‘ISLAND’ EXPERIENCE: First, they brought the lagoons into Dubai’s city hinterlands. Now, developers are creating ‘islands’ on those water bodies to an expectant buyer base. What used to be strenuous efforts is being achieved with relative ease these days. And with defined timelines on the development side. Dubai and UAE developers can afford to do so – investor interest in what they have to offers is on a sustained run. What investors want is assurance on the quality and that they will get what they pay for. Which is why they are backing those who are consistently delivering on their promises… (By Manoj Nair, Business Editor)

ANXIOUS WAIT CONTINUES FOR NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Novak Djokovic, the anti-vaxxer, must be breathing a bit easy now as almost all countries across the world are easing Covid-19 restrictions. The Serbian ace, who could not take part in the Australian Open and the US Open this year due to his vaccination status, feels that there are positive signs for him to return to Australia, where was slapped with a three-year ban and deported early this year. Djokovic is hoping to get an update in the next few weeks so that he would get sufficient time to start preparations for 2023’s first Grand Slam. Hopefully, the game will again start with love-all and see the Serb hold the crown at Melbourne Park soon, but for the time being, the anxious wait continues. (By A.K.S. SATISH, Sports Editor)

THIS YEAR’S ‘AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’ WINNERS THE MAYYAS FROM LEBANON TAKE OVER DUBAI: The judges of the perennially popular dance-hunt show ‘America’s Got Talent’ are discerning and can be scathing if your moves don’t rock their boats, but a dance troupe from ‘Lebanon’ broke all their defenses and emerged at the top. The all-female troupe from Lebanon were declared the winners of that contest. Apart from walking home with a $1million dollars, they even got a standing ovation with its star judge Simon Cowell declaring that these women have the power to ‘change the world’ with their art. He had a point. So it’s a privilege to see them in action in Dubai. Earlier this morning, Gulf News was sent a footage of them busting some serious moves at a high vantage point at The Palm Jumeirah. They paid homage to their Arabic roots with their attire, accessories, and some haunting music by Harry Hedeshian. Here’s hoping more regional talents like ‘The Mayyas’ shine on the global stage and pay it forward by never forgetting their roots and culture. (By Manjusha Radhakrishnan, Entertainment Editor)
