Dubai’s Noja a wanted woman at Aramco Team Series - Jeddah
Dubai’s Chiara Noja was hot property at last night’s Draft for the Aramco Team Series – Jeddah, with two Ladies European Tour stars keen to sign up the 15-year-old for their team at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club.
The first of its kind tournament uses a unique draft system, with team captains picking one pro teammate, before being allocated a third via a random draw, while each team will also be assigned one amateur golfer.
Noja, who turned pro on the eve of the Dubai Moonlight Classic, was snapped up by Finnish star Sanna Nuutinen, who competed at women’s golf competition at the Olympic Games in Tokyo earlier this year.
“I’m going to mix it up this time, and not pick one of my fellow Finns,” she said. “I’m going to go with the young girl Chiara Noja. She’s recently turned pro and was highly ranked as an amateur. She reminds me a bit of myself when I was her age, so it’s like going back in time!”
The next captain to make their pick was Leonie Harm, who revealed she was also after the Dubai-based prodigy for her team.
“Sanna just stole my pick!” she said. “Chiara’s a fellow German, and I’ve actually never met her so I thought we could get to know each other a little bit.”
Linette Littau Durr Holmslykke joined Noja’s team via the random draw, while the amateurs will be assigned to the teams tonight.
