Men claim video was aimed at raising awareness over child protection
Muscat: Omani police said they had arrested two young men, who appeared masked in a video seizing an abandoned car with children inside.
“Regarding the video circulated on social media featuring a scene of stealing a car, kidnapping children and stirring panic among them by masked persons, the Anti-Crime Department tracked and arrested them. Legal procedures are being taken against the men,” the Royal Oman Police said in a tweet without details.
The video went viral in Oman and sparked widespread criticism.
The men claim they were trying to raise public awareness about the dangers of leaving children alone inside cars, Dubai-based Al Arabiya television reported.
