The program aims to promote the use of the National ID in daily transactions
The Philippine Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Wednesday announced free MRT-3 rides every Wednesday in August for passengers who present a National ID.
The free rides apply on August 6, 13, 20, and 27. They are available from 9am to 11am and 6pm to 8pm
You can show a physical card, printed paper, or digital copy of your National ID at the station gate.
“The free ride is in line with the goal of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. to promote the use of the National ID for easier transactions, whether public or private, and faster and more inclusive delivery of social services,” the DOTr said in Filipino in a Facebook post.
The Philippine Statistics Authority is also encouraging all National ID holders to take part.
