PIA opens new jobs to recruit cade pilots to overcome crew shortage

Dubai: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a fresh recruitment drive under its newly launched Cadet Pilot Program, aiming to onboard 24 new pilots amid reported shortage of cockpit crew.

The initiative is part of the airline’s broader strategy to restore international operations, particularly to Europe and the UK.

Under the program, selected cadets will be hired on a two-year contract, giving them a launchpad to begin their flying careers with the national flag carrier.

Eligibility requirements

  • Minimum 200 flying hours

  • Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)

  • Submission of a $15,000 financial bond to ensure commitment and adherence to airline protocols

Hiring pilots

The Cadet Pilot Program is not the only move in PIA’s cockpit strategy. The airline is also hiring 20 experienced commercial pilots to address immediate operational needs as it works to normalize services and improve flight frequency. PIA has urged qualified candidates to submit their applications to the HR department.

New flights

The new job openings follow the earlier First Officer recruitment campaign that saw nearly 300 applicants, highlighting a growing interest in aviation careers across Pakistan.

The airline’s renewed hiring push is closely tied to its plan to resume direct flights to destinations like London, Manchester, and Paris using its Boeing 777 fleet, marking a critical step in reconnecting Pakistan with key European markets.
