Kabul: Officials say Afghan and foreign troops fought with militants and called in airstrikes in a series of clashes in Afghanistan that left at least 23 militants dead and 20 others wounded.
The clashes happened in the country's east, south and southwestern provinces where Taliban and other militant groups are waging an insurgency against government and foreign forces.
The offensive comes shortly after a strike by suspected Taliban militants on a military ceremony in Kabul attended by President Hamid Karzai.
