Abu Dhabi: The UAE will join members of the Syrian community in celebrating Syria’s cultural and civilisational heritage at a large community event in Dubai on November 22.
The event will be attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Dr Ziad Yahya Zahr Eddine, Consul General of Syria in the UAE, along with senior diplomats and leading social and economic figures from the Syrian community.
Organised by the “Emirates Loves Syria” initiative, in cooperation with members of the Syrian community, the celebration aims to honour the deep, historic ties between the UAE and Syria. It also seeks to reinforce the strong bonds of friendship shared by both peoples.
The programme will highlight Syrian culture, heritage and arts through a series of activities and dialogue sessions. It will also shed light on the role of the Syrian community in supporting the UAE’s ongoing development and cultural landscape.
The event reflects the growing partnership between the two countries across key sectors, including trade, investment, development and cultural exchange.
Held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai, the celebration is expected to welcome around 20,000 visitors. The programme features cultural and artistic performances, musical shows and traditional heritage activities that showcase the depth and diversity of Syrian identity.
The event will also host community discussions, interactive sessions and presentations on upcoming Syrian-led projects in fields such as cuisine, culture and creative industries.
The gathering underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering unity, tolerance and coexistence among all communities. It highlights the country’s success in creating an environment where diverse cultures can thrive in harmony and mutual respect.
A special ceremony will honour outstanding achievers from the Syrian community in the UAE. Visitors will enjoy a wide array of cultural offerings, including live music, traditional maqam recitals, folk dances and family-friendly performances.
The venue will also feature exhibitions displaying Syrian handicrafts, creative products and cultural artefacts from various cities. Traditional food stalls and immersive cultural experiences will offer attendees a lively glimpse into Syria’s rich heritage.
