Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved a new tranche of housing support for families in urgent need across the emirate, with a total budget of Dh335 million benefiting 431 families.

Announced on the “Direct Line” radio program, the initiative is aimed at addressing some of the most pressing housing challenges faced by Sharjah’s citizens.

Khalid bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Housing, said that the support will be issued as full housing grants.

According to Al Muhairi, 133 of the eligible families are currently living in rental properties, while 201 families reside in overcrowded homes with extended relatives.

Another 61 families are living in inherited homes that are not legally or logistically suitable for division, and 36 families are housed in structurally unsound, deteriorating residences.

“All of these families fall under the critical cases category and will be provided with ready-built government housing units,” Al Muhairi said.
