UAE: Mother and 2-year-old daughter die in 17th-floor fall from Sharjah apartment

Dubai: A 33-year-old Indian woman and her two-year-old daughter fell to their deaths from the balcony of their 17th-floor apartment in Sharjah on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm. Authorities reported that the woman's husband was asleep inside the apartment at the time of the fall.

Witnesses immediately contacted the police operations room, prompting a swift response from police patrols, CID officers from Buhairah police station, forensic experts, and the National Ambulance.

Tragically, the mother was declared dead at the scene. Her critically injured daughter was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries approximately an hour later.

Authorities have confirmed the transfer of the bodies to the hospital and subsequently to the forensic laboratory for autopsy.

Police have classified the incident as a suicide, though the motive remains unclear. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
