Thomas Seabrook, Joan Legnar and Peter Jamieson took their respective divisional titles in the Absolute Pools Individual Stableford event played yesterday at The Desert Course, Arabian Ranches.

A 2.00pm shotgun started the full field of 70 players in summery warm conditions with the lower handicap golfers collecting most of the silverware.

Best score of the day was from men's winner 13 year old junior Thomas Seabrook who scored 36 Stableford points in this handicap allowance format.

Starting on hole 14 Seabrook began steadily and came to life on his 6th hole the first at The Desert Course from where he had a run of 19 points over 8 holes upto the 9th tee.

A stumble on hole 12 with a no pointer did not affect the outcome as he took the title by a solitary point and as a result his handicap is reduced to 17. Runner-up was Nick Hopwood on 35 points thanks to the equivalent of a gross 76 with nines of 18 and 17 narrowly taking out Tony Hutchinson (6) on a back 6 countback.

Other notable performances came from the in-form Steve Bennett (6) with 34 points for 4th place and the visitor's trophy being picked up by Peter Jamieson (8) with 27 points.

Elliott Gray of The Desert Course commented, "We are very grateful to the team at Absolute Pools for their support and look forward to hopefully strengthening our relationship with them in the months ahead."

Frank Mason, managing director of Absolute Pools said: "This is a first for us in Golf Sponsorship and we are very happy with the publicity through the Club's website and media publications. We will be renewing our sponsorship agreement and look forward to sponsoring a tournament later this year at The Desert Course."
