Daman Super 11 football prodigies feted

Abu Dhabi: Winners of the inaugural Daman Super 11 football tournament were presented with their official blazers on the sidelines of a friendly between German clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and Schalke at Al Nahyan Stadium on Saturday.

Eintracht Frankfurt board member Philip Holzer presented the blazers to the winners.

Eintracht Frankfurt partnered the tournament, which saw a field of 500 players narrowed down to the best 11, who now get the chance to train with the German club and join Al Jazira Football Academy.

In October last year, the National Health Insurance Company — Daman — teamed up with Eintracht Frankfurt and Al Jazira football clubs as part of its efforts to combat childhood obesity across the UAE. The Super 11 football tournament, which took place on November 16 and December 7, hosted more than 500 children — in the Under-14 and Under-16 categories — from 22 schools across Abu Dhabi.

The Super 11 initiative forms an integral part of Daman’s activities to enable community wellbeing through sports.
