Kerala's star batter Sanju Samson bags a record deal

Dubai: While speculation continues around Sanju Samson’s potential move in the upcoming Indian Premier League season, the star cricketer has already made headlines in the Kerala Premier League. In the league’s second edition, Samson was snapped up by the Kochi Blue Tigers for Rs 2.6 million — making him the most expensive player in the tournament’s history.

This will also mark 30-year-old’s debut in the Kerala Premier League, which is conducted under the aegis of the Kerala Cricket Association. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 21 to September 6.

Each KPL team has a total spending cap of Rs 5 million, making the Kochi Blue Tigers’ investment in Samson particularly significant.

Meanwhile, rumours are swirling that the Rajasthan Royals captain could be headed to Chennai Super Kings, with long-time icon MS Dhoni possibly preparing to retire as he nears his 45th birthday.
