* The UAE last appeared in a World Cup in 1996 — 19 years ago. This the second-longest gap between two World Cups for a side after Canada, who first played in 1979 and then made a comeback in 2003.
* UAE’s Krishna Chandran becomes only the second Keralite to play in the World Cup after India’s S. Sreesanth, who played in two games in 2011.
* Khurram Khan at 43 years 243 days is now the third oldest to appear in a World Cup game after Netherlands’ Nolan Clarke (47y 257d in 1996) and Zimbabwe’s John Traicos (44y 306d in 1992).
* Meanwhile, UAE skipper Mohammad Tauqir at 43 years 36 days is the seventh oldest. But Tauqir is the oldest World Cup captain — the previous record-holder was Netherlands’ Steven Lubbers (42y 299d in 1996).
* Shaiman Anwar’s 67 is the second-highest individual score in the World Cup for the UAE. Saleem Raza’s 84 against Netherlands at Lahore in 1996 remains their best.
* The UAE’s 285/7 is their highest in ODIs, bettering their previous mark of 282/4 in 48.2 overs against Afghanistan at Dubai in November 2014. For the record, UAE’s previous best in a World Cup was the 220/3 in 44.3 overs while chasing down Netherlands’ total at Lahore in 1996.
* Zimbabwe’s Regis Chakabva became the seventh batsman in the World Cup to be dismissed hit-wicket. Kenya’s Maurice Odumbe did it twice (both against the West Indies, in 1996 and 2003)
* Zimbabwe’s successful chase of 285 is their joint third-highest in all ODIs, but by far their best in a World Cup match.
* Five Zimbabwe batsmen managed to make 35-plus during their innings. It is only the fourth time this has occurred in a World Cup match. The other teams to do it are: Pakistan in 1983 and New Zealand and Australia both in 2007. However, Zimbabwe are the first to do it in the second innings of a World Cup match.
