Dubai Amity University not only broke the jinx of not reaching the final despite many repeated attempts before but also emerged as the champions dethroning
Heriot watt who have scored at an average of 170 plus runs per innings in the eighth edition of this event, were confident of chasing this total considering they had beaten Amity convincingly by 65 runs in the league stages. Heriot Watt were on track as opener Adnan Khan raced to 47 off 21 balls before being dismissed by Mohammad Omer. E\His innings set things rolling for Heriot Watt and were on course to win the match as they were going better than required run rate. But Amity had learnt from their previous mistakes and did not let any more partnerships to flourish. Amitys’ Jay Joshi, Omer and Mohammad Azhar picked up two wickets each to establish their dominance in the match. Usman Munirs 21 off 17 balls and Rohit Singhs 18 off 20 balls were not enough to take them past the finish line as Heriot Watt stumbled at 133, short just by a margin of 12 runs making Amity University the champions.
Mohd Omer was declared the Player of the Match for his all-round performance which was awarded by the Sports Head of Amity University, Vedprakash Mishra. Rohit Singh of Heriot Watt had an outstanding show scoring 152 runs and taking 10 wickets which made him the Player of the Tournament and it was awarded by Menon of Al Jazira Poultry Farm. Farukh Siddiqui, member of Dubai Cricket Council gave away the winners trophy and medals to top performers.
