In Pictures: Wayne Rooney returns to Manchester United

Odion Ighalo led the way as Manchester United ruined Wayne Rooney's reunion with his old club by beating Derby 3-0 Thursday to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Ighalo scored twice to leave their all-time top scorer Rooney on the losing side.

Rooney and Derby started well but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men took control when Luke Shaw broke the deadlock. Ighalo poked home United's second four minutes before half-time. The 30-year-old Nigerian striker doubled his tally in the 70th minute for a 3-0 win.

Rooney, who joined Derby this season after a stint with MLS side DC United, had a great chance to equalise but the midfielder's 36th-minute free kick drew a fingertip save from United keeper Sergio Romero.

It was Rooney's first game against the club where he spent 13 years

The former England man's wife Coleen Rooney was in the stands with her son Kai to cheer him on

But it was United who did the cheering, booking their place in the quarter-finals against Norwich City
