Stay safe, healthy and keep your cool during the warmest temperatures in the UAE
It’s hot in the UAE, but it’s hottest during the Summer season. Here are seven ways you can beat the heat and stay cool this summer.
At least drink two to three litres of water each day, especially if you’ll be out and about during the day. Going out to exercise? Then stay hydrated with H2O all day long in this summer heat.
Go ahead and spritz your face with water any time you feel dry. Whether it's during your Metro ride or while staying inside the office. On a warm day, a wet towel will be helpful too.
Never wear tight clothing during summer. That is like trapping the heat in your already warm body. Avoid dark colours as well, especially black. Wear cotton and light coloured outfits.
You may be a coffee person but during summer, it's better to stay away from too much caffeine. According to medical experts, caffeine can actually dehydrate your body.
There are battery-operated fans that are small enough to be kept in your purse. You can also get a hand-held one which is exactly what you'll need for summer. Check out the Cooling Desk Mini Fan with a USB power plug. Perfect for when you’re in the office.
If you need to get out for some errands or business, plan your day right. Try and arrange for errands to happen before 9am when the morning sun is not as horrendous as it is during mid-day. Stay inside between 12pm until around 4.30pm or just do all outside activities in the evenings when it’s way cooler.
You actually have cooling points all over your body, that will cool you down quickly and effectively. These are your pulse points. At peak temperatures, try applying ice packs on your wrists, the back of your neck, behind your knees, your feet or behind your ears. You could also use a wet hand towel or to keep your body temperature down.
