Wedding snapshot: Capturing those moments

A cosy wedding photography boutique is offering love birds and brides-to-be the chance to view their future wedding albums and chit-chat about their special day in a relaxed environment.

Darrin James Photography, which opened at Palm Jumeirah recently, offers pre-wedding consultations for couples eager to see how their wedding albums will look. They are first invited to take a seat in a reception area where they can view sample photo albums which, after being designed in the boutique, are sent to Italy for printing.

“We want to create a space where people can plan their wedding and see beautiful photographs and exciting videos,'' said Australian founder Darrin James, who moved to Dubai in 2005.

Next to the reception is a professional studio for engagement shoots and post-wedding, family and group portraits.

Past the studio is a small editing room where still photos and funky videos get edited.

“We want to differentiate ourselves from the market,'' said James, who started shooting professionally in 1987.

Teamwork

In 2002, James co-founded PR Photography in London for weddings and events. He now has a team of six full-time employees in addition to many contractors. The team is able to photograph and take videos of weddings with up to 1,500 people.

“Weddings are full of raw emotion. We make sure we get the joy on the families' and friends' faces,'' he said. “Shooting the wedding day is telling a beautiful story from start to finish.''

The team can provide on-site production so that couples can leave on their honeymoon with a DVD of their special day.

Darrin James Photography charges a standard price of Dh16,000 and albums range from Dh3,000-Dh5,000.
