It began quietly, no superstar names, no massive marketing blitz, just a love story and two fresh faces, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, stepping into the spotlight. Yet, Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara turned out to be one of the most unexpected box office triumphs of the year.

Now, after making the big screens misty-eyed, Saiyaara is packing its bags for the small screen.

Mark your calendars: September 12 on Netflix

The news came straight from YRF’s own talent-spotter Shanoo Sharma, who took to Instagram to share the big reveal. She reshared a post featuring the film’s poster, the leads front and centre, confirming that Saiyaara will stream on Netflix from September 12.

On paper, it’s a straightforward love story with good music. But nevertheless, it hit theatres at just the right time, when audiences were expressing their disillusion with Bollywood. The gamble worked. Young audiences seemed to have particularly enjoyed it, with videos of viewers openly sobbing in theatres going viral.

Real tears or not, Saiyaara found its crowd, and it’s about to find a much bigger one when it drops on Netflix next month.

A box office triumph

It is breaking records, too. According to Bollywood Hungama, Mohit Suri’s romance has now become the second-highest-grossing film of 2025, pulling in a staggering Rs 541.13 crore worldwide.

On home turf, the film has minted Rs 319.71 crore in just four weeks. It's officially out-earned Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2, Salman Khan’s Sikandar, and Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, firmly planting itself among the year’s box office giants.
