'Too Good To Be True' brings relatable romance and modern Mumbai life to streaming
Dubai: Prajakta Koli, the YouTube star‑turned‑actor popularly known as MostlySane, is set to bring her own written work to life on the streaming screen.
According to Variety India, Netflix India is set to adapt her debut romance novel Too Good to Be True into a full‑fledged web series. Production on the series is expected to begin in the second half of 2026.
The upcoming series, also expected to be titled Too Good to Be True, is a lighthearted is a contemporary Indian romance set primarily in Mumbai, centered on a relatable lead named Avani, who is a law student juggling her studies with a part‑time job in a cozy bookstore. The narrative takes shape when Aman, a rich and charismatic CEO, wanders into her life.
Speaking to Gulf News ahead of her appearance at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), she shared that the story began with a very different vision in mind. “I didn’t expect it to be a book, actually,” Koli said, explaining that she initially imagined it as a six-part series.
“I started writing it as a show, and it somehow....ended up becoming chapters. Then I kind of just took it from there. It wasn’t a very intentional decision."

Variety India reported that Koli will not only star in the series but also reportedly serve as a producer on board. Koli had made it clear that if Too Good To Be True was to makes its way to the screen, she already knew exactly who should play the lead.
Speaking to Gulf News in an earlier interview, she laughed when asked about a possible film adaptation and said the role of Avani was always meant for her. “Because that’s how it was intended to be. It’s me. I will always be Avani. Nobody else is allowed.” she said.
Koli’s career trajectory has been unique, she first came to prominence through her MostlySane YouTube channel, where her comedic sketches and commentary garnered millions of subscribers.
From there, she transitioned into acting with roles in projects like Netflix’s hit teen romantic series Mismatched, alongside Rohit Saraf, and Bollywood films such as JugJugg Jeeyo and Single Papa. She’s been gradually showing the industry she can do everything. Writing a novel? Check. Producing it into a web series? Check. She has casually conquered three industries at once.
