Dubai: One of the most iconic stars of this century, Lady Gaga, turns a year older today.

And if you are a fan, or baby monster, then you sure know there’s no predicting what she’s going to do next. From jaw dropping red carpet moments to award winning songs and collaborations, and iconic roles in movies – she’s done it all.

As a way to celebrate her day, we gathered some facts about the singer and actor you may or may not know.

Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, was born on March 28, 1986. Born into an Italian American family in New York City, she gravitated towards music from a young age.

She began playing the piano from the age of 4 and attended an all-girls school, Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan. She then went on to study music at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

Growing up, she performed at open-mic nights and eventually changed her name to Lady Gaga. And the reason for this name? Reports say it’s a nod to the legendary band, Queen, and their song Radio Ga Ga.

And that is a name you can never forget.

She went on to make chart-topping hits like Born This Way, which was No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks.

Other hits that topped the charts included Rain On Me, Just Dance (with Colby O’Donis), Shallow, and Poker Face.

Not only did Lady Gaga make hits, she also won 14 Grammy awards and was nominated for 38. In 2025, she won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Die With A Smile, her collaboration with Bruno Mars.

While these are facts that most fans know, there was one that came to light only a few years ago.

Gaga had revealed she was bullied in college through a Facebook (now Meta) group. The group had people criticising everything about her and was named, “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous.”

Gaga, however, proved her haters wrong when she not only won Grammy awards, but also won a Bafta, Oscar and Golden Globe, in the same year.
